FISH FARMS

Marine agriculture is one of the productive sectors that is experiencing the greatest growth in recent years. The decline in catches of fishing fleets, as a result of the overexploitation of fishing grounds, has forced the development of new alternatives to guarantee the supply of products in the markets in a sustainable and stable way.

The objective of the new fish farms is to increase competitiveness by promoting research and use of new technologies, improving environmental care to reduce the organic load in the effluents of fish farms, efficiency in the recirculation of water in marine farms or improvement in the control of the bioaccumulation of heavy metals in species.

The water supply to fish farms can be obtained by means of a seawater collection system consisting of a microtunnel connected to a water intake tower at a certain depth to obtain a temperature, salinity or nutrients of the water favorable for their facilities.

The same solution is given for the evacuation of treated effluents where an outfall with microtunnel connected to a diffuser at its discharge point is built.

The execution of a microtunnel minimizes the environmental impact on the seabed and reduces the maritime works area to the discharge area, where both the recovery of the TBM and the connection of the diffuser and collection tower with the tunnel are carried out.
